Chef Theo Otte brings 30 years of experience to the seasonal American cuisine of his restaurant, 626 on Rood – Modern American Cuisine & Wine Bar, in downtown Grand Junction, CO. Mr. Otte is known for his original, but honest takes on American classics, drawing on far-ranging influences from southern Europe, Latin America, to Asia. In 2004, Mr. Otte was named Chef of the West by Taste of the Nation – Share Our Strength.

626 on Rood opened in December 2006, and continues to be noted in local, state, and national publications as one of Colorado’s top destinations for dining, as well as unwinding, on the Western Slope. The restaurant is renowned for its close relationships with Palisade and Grand Valley growers, from whom Mr. Otte sources the finest local ingredients, featured in-menu throughout the year.
626 was included in USA Today’s Top Ten Wine Bars in the USA (December 2012), won the inaugural Colorado Roots Restaurant Challenge (October 2014), and made the 2017 Good Food 100 Restaurants list for its sourcing and sustainability practices (GoodFood100Restaurants.org).

Mr. Otte’s family includes Brenda Wray, his wife and partner in life as well as business, and Felton, the couple’s exceptional standard poodle.
